Common questions

Can personality type tell me what job to do?
No. It describes the working conditions a person tends to find energising or draining, which is useful for narrowing a search. It does not predict performance, and type instruments should not be used for hiring or promotion decisions.
What if the type I picked does not sound like me?
Read two or three neighbouring types. Mistyping is common, and the conditions described here are often a better match to a person than the four-letter label is.
Why does my job drain me even though I am good at it?
Capability and energy cost are separate. Most people leave jobs they can do well because the surrounding conditions — meetings, ambiguity, noise, reporting — cost more than the work itself returns.

How to use this

Type doesn't predict job performance, and no serious research supports using personality type to hire, screen or assign people. What it does describe reasonably well is the kind of working conditions a person finds energising or exhausting — which is the part that usually decides whether a job lasts.
