Why INFJs do it
1. Ni sees the pattern early, but Fe hides it
Ni-dom sees the relationship going nowhere long before Fe will admit it.
2. Fe overrides internal signals — until it can't
INFJs are trained by their own stack to absorb and accommodate. That works right up until Ni + tertiary Ti concludes the person is unsafe.
3. Inferior Se leaves no middle gear
Healthier types can dial a relationship down to 30%. INFJs, with weak Se, tend to run relationships at 100% or 0%.
Is it healthy?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Healthy: cutting off an abusive, manipulative, or draining person after real attempts to address it.
Unhealthy: cutting off anyone who has ever disappointed you, or using it to avoid a hard conversation.

- Have you actually told this person, in plain words, what's wrong?
- Have you given them one real chance to change?
- Are you leaving because of what they did or because your Ni collapsed into a story?
If you got door-slammed
- It's the endpoint of a pattern the INFJ saw for months.
- Reaching out repeatedly usually deepens the slam.
- One clean message sometimes reopens the door. Sometimes not.

Do only INFJs door-slam? No. INTJs do a colder, more strategic version. The term stuck to INFJs because going warm-cold overnight is distinctly Fe-user behavior.
